Name: Dick & Carolyn Manion
Board of Directors
Mission:
From its inception Dick and Carolyn Manion have been part of the TBM family, with Dick serving as Executive Director, heading up our Field Expansion project. Having himself ministered in church-planting for more than 15 years, Dick has an on-hands understanding of the challenges and needs that accompany planting a Bible teaching church in environments not normally cordial to the Gospel.
Project History:
The Field Expansion project is just that. As TBM grows and expands, our TBM Executive Director seeks to provide direction to its missionaries through field visits, phone calls, emails, and publications, i.e. Tentmakers News. New missionaries start off by being exposed to veteran TBM missionaries at the Mission’s annual candidate school. Once accepted as an appointee the new missionary is invited to serve an internship, again gaining first-hand experience from more experienced missionaries prior to launching into a new church plant.
We would appreciate your prayer as TBM seeks God’s guidance in the missionaries placed on its fields. Please pray for the Lord’s leading and direction in the lives of our missionary applicants.
Biography:
Dick and Carolyn Manion grew up in the state of Michigan. They are both graduates of the Grand Rapids School of the Bible and Music. Dick embarked on church planting in Southeast Idaho upon graduation from GRSBM, planting three churches during his 15-year tenure in Idaho. He left that field upon the death of his first wife in 1974. A few months later, he moved the family back to Michigan where he served on the staff of GRSBM. That is where he met and married Carolyn Kyser, who was also on the staff at GRSBM. Carolyn grew up on a dairy farm, in a loving Christian home, just 15 miles from Grand Rapids. She was introduced to the Lord as a young child. Dick grew up in the Detroit area, the son of a General Motors factory worker. Upon her marriage to Dick in 1976 Carolyn inherited an instant family of five children, ages 2-14 yrs. Dick and Carolyn have since raised two children of their own, bringing the grand total to seven, five sons living in the Grand Rapids area and two daughters living in Denver.
For the past six years the Manions have made their home in Summit County, Colorado, the headquarters of Tentmaker Bible Mission in the town of Frisco. TBM offices and staff are provided courtesy of the Rocky Mountain Bible Church in Frisco. Dick and Carolyn recently moved back to their home in Lowell, Michigan, where Dick continues his ministry with TBM as outlined. He makes frequent trips back to Colorado and the home office along with periodic trips to the TBM fields, continuing in the work of Field Expansion with Tentmakers Bible Mission.
