Teaching in Nicaragua
Dear Ones in Christ Jesus,
Just to let you know that the Lord is giving me the privilege of working with a great team of two other pastors, an elder and two Nicaraguan Rio Grande Bible Institute (RGBI) seminarians. Many national pastors have expressed over and over again their deep appreciation for our coming to help them in the areas of correct Bible interpretation and multiplicity of spiritual leadership in the local church, among many other subjects of interest.
While several national pastors have attended some sort of Bible institute, their knowledge of solid Bible principles is almost totally absent. We are all both socked as well as heartbroken for them and concerned for how they are leading the flocks God has entrusted to their care. We have also been put to shame as we see so many basic things that they are completely missing, like a bike as a means of transportation, Bible commentaries and other indispensable ministry books, and yet their willingness to keep going.
One pastor in particular, had his left leg completely blown off when he stepped on a land mine. On top of that, he also lost both eyes on the same accident. Furthermore, he travels many hours a week to visit his people and finally he must cross a river every time he goes from house to church.
Almost every pastor we met (about 30 of them) is working on a very small budget. I know I can not do much but I know I can’t just sit and do thing. My two RGBI Nicaraguan friends are challenging me to keep coming to help them, but my hands are so very full. Please pray for me and the situation in Nicaragua.
In Him,
Franc Ortega
Please pray for a special need I'm calling "The Pollo (Spanish for chicken) Project". This requires a one-time gift of $ 1,000 to start a chicken farm I'm wanting to help a Nicaraguan pastor and an RGBI graduate start. This project will provide employment for at least four local pastors to cover their essential needs in order to stay in the ministry God has called them to. Their passion for the Lord is admirable and commendable but their resources are extremely poor.
