Dear Praying Friends,
We have found the secret to helping the long cold month of January pass quickly; spend the first half of the month visiting friends, then come back home and get sick, then spend the last week trying to do what has been left undone the previous 3 weeks. Maybe this method isn't recommended, but it does help the time move along quickly - too quickly!
It is difficult to put into words our time in America. We were so encouraged to hear your personal testimonies of what God is doing in your lives. So many testified to the comfort their faith brings in light of the changing times in America. The strength of your personal faith is an encouragement to our ministry as well, as it is reflected in your notes of encouragement, and certainly your prayer for our ministry. We were greatly ministered to while in America. We continue to remain convinced that we have a very unique and devoted support team. We praise God for each one of you and pray His richest blessings on you all.
As I was sitting on the plane in Houston waiting for takeoff, I noticed that I started coughing a dry kind of cough. “Oh no!” I thought, as I knew this was one of the symptoms of THE VIRUS. I hoped that if I would ignore it, it would go away. I was very tired and I was thinking of calling the head coach to ask for the next day off. As soon as I got home, the first message I had to respond to was from the president of the club asking me to replace the head coach who had just broken his nose. The next day, during the practice, I felt it come on, the headache, the achy feeling, the fever. I called practice off early and went to bed - and stayed there for several days. So much for hitting the ground running! Everything was put on hold and we are only now beginning to catch up.
Our ministry focus this month is getting a bit larger, going outside of our regular activities of the Bible clubs and Sunday morning worship. In response to our Christmas program, there has been an increase in requests for visits. Last Sunday we met with the lesbian couple that came to our Christmas program. They have been reading the Bible. The main goal of our initial conversation was to clearly present who God is and the message of the gospel. During the course of the conversation, it seemed to us that the Spirit is convicting them of their sin. Please pray for this couple.
Next week, I have my last basketball coaching clinic before the exam in April. Please commit this project to prayer as it is proving to be quite a load emotionally, and spiritually, as well as consuming a lot of time. God has provided some very interesting discussions with the people I have met and I will try to remember to tell you about those next time.
I wanted to be sure to leave room to say that we are praising God for His provision financially going into the end of the year. We had a shortfall towards the end of the year due to the costs of education of our kids and the plane tickets. The gifts received in January were sufficient to cover these costs and we are very very grateful! Several people have indicated that they would like to specifically contribute financially for the education of our kids. Our goal is that next August, Sofia and Lydia join Stefan in the ranks of doing their high school education by internet. It is a far cheaper solution than boarding school. It is a more spiritually healthy environment than the public school. Also, it takes care of the accrediting concerns as our kids relocate in America after their high school years, and potentially frees up more time for Sonya to pursue other ministry projects. IRS regulations are such that we can receive specific gifts for our children's eduction. However, we can personally appropriate a gift that you desire for education if you tell us. Just send your gift to
Tentmakers Bible Mission
PO Box 160

Attach a note saying the gift is for the Bordeaux Project.
Then write us by email - kentonbecker@gmail.com
or at:

alerting us to your desire to use that specific gift for our children's education.
Once again we are very grateful to you, our prayer supporters, for bringing these needs before our heavenly Father. He has often used you in a very practical way to encourage us in pursuing God's call on our lives here. The financial needs are very real yet we know that all we do begins with support in prayer. Thank you for praying for us. May God bless you greatly,
In Christ,
